REMEDIATION

As cities evolve, land uses and commercial activities once commonplace and critical to the local economy inevitably end up out of place and, at times, even harmful. EFG works with local, state, and federal regulators to identify and understand historical environmental conditions; develop remediation plans protective of human health and the environment; and set the table for future redevelopment.

ASARCO Globe Smelter,
now Crossroads Commerce Park

Remediation of the 77-acre former ASARCO-Globe Smelter site into Crossroads Commerce Park, a master-planned 1M SF Class A industrial business park. Situated in both Adams and Denver counties, Crossroads Commerce Park borders Washington Street just north of I-70 and east of I-25. Only minutes away from downtown Denver, Crossroads Commerce Park is a premier infill location in the Denver metropolitan area, serving as a catalyst for economic development that is bringing back jobs to the historically industrial neighborhood of Globeville.

Leher’s Greenhouse Wheatridge,
now Yarrow Gardens

Remediation and redevelopment of the former 6-acre Leher’s Greenhouse and adjacent single-family property just west of 44th & Wadsworth into 89-unit townhome development. As the former carnation capital of the world, Wheat Ridge was home to many floral operations, including the former Leher’s Greenhouse just west of 44th & Wadsworth. Once a source of pride, years of pesticide use, changing economic conditions, and grandfathered commercial use in a residential zone district left the site in a state of disrepair. Through rezoning, remediation, and redevelopment, it is now a thriving neighborhood bounded on the south by an elementary school and the west by the City of Wheat Ridge’s community garden.
